It’s finally beginning to feel like the holidays are upon us. Unfortunately the weather decided to take a downturn Friday just before Bella Rustina. We froze all weekend and ended up having horrible attendance. Bella Rustina was supposed to be successful regardless of when it was held because it has been supported so much in the past. The Stadium gives us our Fall date based on what’s left after football games are scheduled. I knew our weekend would be a challenge, but I thought I had it covered: Upped advertising by 20%, bought a gazillion tarps to try to reduce the wind, and encouraged our exhibitors to bring heaters. The heaters threw breakers, the wind went the opposite direction of where many of the tarps were, and I’m sure the cold zapped any interest that extra advertising did. I have been devastated by it and probably shouldn’t have told the whole world, but to somehow make it sound like it was all peachy would be a disservice to my exhibitors and customers who endured it. However, I must count my blessings. For one, I was sick all last week, but somehow was able to pull this all off. My voice came back somewhat for going on TV, I was able to help Robin load the truck/trailer (including 50+ tables), and even walked 13 miles on Thursday as I helped exhibitors set up. And then hardly got any sleep, as usual. I am beyond thankful for Robin, who helped me through this and even covered the front table for me as I hid Saturday afternoon when I couldn’t take the mean comments anymore. I am thankful for the exhibitors who were kind and understood I hated so much they were freezing and that so few customers came. I’m thankful for the Renewal Ranch guys that are always on time and work hard unloading and loading furniture for us. I’m thankful for my parents, who watch Little Caleb for me during the shows and even bring their camper so I can see him during the weekend and I don’t have to drive back and forth. And of course I’m thankful for Big Caleb, who supports me and my dreams. March 10-12 is the next Bella Rustina and I expect that show to be back to normal since the past two March shows were phenomenal. I will continue to recruit amazing exhibitors and promote the show with more tenacity than ever because failure is not an option. 🙂
We don’t have very many sales this weekend, but I’m sure that’s because we all have a gazillion things to do this weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Here are the sales I know about:
