| I decided last minute to join my gym for a canoe trip on the Buffalo River on Saturday. All week the group was concerned the water would be too high to float, but the water level went down just enough to be safe enough for us to go. I took the boys and it was the best day! I have never been on the Buffalo when the water was so fast. In fact, it was such an easy trip we missed our load-out spot! We were supposed to go from Woolum to Baker Ford, but we missed it and had to get out at Grinder’s Ferry. If my research is correct we paddled 17 miles! Caleb fished off the front of the boat most of the day and Joshua learned how to skip rocks when we took breaks. They took a nap at one point (see second photo). Caleb’s snores echoed in the front of the canoe, which was hilarious. The water was too cold to swim in, but the weather was fantastic. I’m so glad we went!
