I was on TV!

If you’re an early bird and watch Channel 11 at around 7:20 on Saturdays, you probably saw me on TV last Saturday, January 5th, promoting the Antique Alley Arkansas Antique Show. I sent a press release to Lauren Scott, a lady that goes to my church, and she was able to get me on air! I about fell out of my chair when I got the phone call on Thursday afternoon!

A lady named Kerri was the one who called me on Thursday. She asked me who I would bring with me on air. After a little thought, I knew exactly who would be perfect for the job: Neil McConnell. Neil is a member of the Moon and Stars Glass Club and has gone on the news before for the Moon and Stars Glass Club Annual Convention, Show, and Sale. He also collects and sells awesome Fire King, Pyrex, Jadeite, and other popular kitchen wares that would be perfect to show off on TV.

Once I had my “antiques expert” picked out, I needed to find some awesome stuff to show off! One of the first people that came to mind was Chris Penn of 2 Brothers Reclaimed and Repurposed Inventory Sales. Chris has a little bit of everything. He sent me some photos and let me pick out what I wanted to borrow. I picked a Ford Gum ball machine, a Fyr Fyter fire extinguisher, and a neat wrought iron piece. Then I went by Arkansas Peddlers and they let me borrow an awesome Texaco advertising sign. I decided to pick an item from my collection and went with a Fenton Silvercrest epergne.

The setup looked awesome! We had plenty of time to get everything set up on the table in front of the cameras. The reporter, Melissa, came in and started talking to us. Then all of a sudden, she said, “And we’re on in 3, 2, 1…” and we were on air! I didn’t even have time to get nervous again after telling her about the items we brought. It was an awesome trick!

Everything went better than I expected. I’m really bad about getting tongue-tied and nervous, so I’m so surprised I didn’t just completely lose my train of thought in the middle of it all. I’m counting my blessings for sure! 🙂 Here’s the video:
