Hot Springs Huntin’

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of accompanying my husband to Hot Springs for a convention. While he both presented and attended seminars for a couple days, I was out having fun!

The first thing I noticed upon arriving at the Austin Hotel was that the Habitat for Humanity ReStore is right across the street!  They were my first stop on Thursday morning. I found this little gem hiding in the corner of a shelf — I love yellow Pyrex!

The next place I stopped was Moonlight Antiques on Grand Avenue.  It was such a cute store! And the owners are awesome — we talked forever about junkin’ and where the good junkin’ spots are these days. They mentioned the Hwy 127 sale that goes through Tennessee in August so I’m going to have to check it out one of these years.

What I didn’t know is that Ashley of Moonlight Antiques is known for her vintage and antique Christmas items.  I love how she uses Slinkys to display her old glass ornaments:

She says she really goes all out decorating her shop for the holidays, so I’ll definitely have to stop back by later this year!

Moonlight Antiques has lots of fun displays throughout the store. At the front door I was greeted by this fun arrangement of glass:

And this awesome vanity:

Towards the back of the store was this shelf of vintage kitchen goodies:

They also have a great selection of linens:

Next stop was Shaw’s Antiques, which was a treat. Have you ever seen a guillotine in real life? Mike Shaw has an old reproduction. He assured me that no heads had been chopped using his. 🙂

I don’t think I’ve seen elk taxidermy before:

Never seen an African Nail Fetish statue either. Shaw’s Antiques was full of firsts for me!

Next I went to Tillman’s Antiques, which is a gorgeous place with lots of great jewelry. They have wonderful architectural salvage in the back room:

Lastly I went by Estate Sale by JK’s estate sale and left with a yellow Pyrex bowl (I guess it was a yellow Pyrex kinda day!) and some Annalee dolls:

I don’t get to Hot Springs very often, but I now have a few reasons to go back sooner than later!  I ran out of time to go to some other places in Hot Springs I’d like to visit, so I will have to visit those places next time. I had a blast and I’m really liking Caleb’s (my husband) new job and all the cool trips I’m getting to go on!
