My mom watched Little Caleb for me Saturday and boy, did I make a day of it! I started out running by the local Hallmark to snag some of the limited quantity ornaments and then I dropped by the Beer & Brewery Show at Burns Park. I don’t drink, but I knew some of the people there so I thought I’d check it out. Everyone was so nice! I was reminded that even if two collectors collect completely different things, they have something in common because they collect (i.e. Storing collectibles, collecting adventures, and of course, the collecting addiction itself). My favorite conversation was with the guy who is bringing back Goldcrest 51 Beer, The Original Memphis Beer. Production began in 1906 and ended in 1954. Production began again in 2015 and right now the beer is only available in Memphis. As the company grows, the beer availability will expand. I thought it was so neat to hear about the process and wish everyone involved the best of luck!
After the Beer and Brewery Show I drove to Amity, AR to Amity Trade Days because I had never been. It really is like a mini-Canton! Afterwards I drove to Conway to help with an estate sale being conducted this weekend by my buddy Robin and exhibitor-friend Linda. They have worked almost every workday for a month to complete that estate sale! It has some of the neatest things I’ve ever seen in a sale from a pair of arched French doors to vintage clothing to amazing antique quilts. Photos will be up later, so be sure to check them out! Their estate sale is definitely worth the drive!

This will be an estate sale you won’t want to miss! This is the estate of Delmar and Josephine McKenzie who were lifetime residents of Faulkner County. The home was built in the 1920’s and several architectural elements will be sold during this sale, including a pair of arched wooden and glass doors that are painted a pale pink! All original hardware including glass door knobs, hinges and lock. Also, an outside door, inside cabinet doors, antiques bricks, even a bathroom sink!
Other items include a 150 year old sofa and chair, mid-century modern chair, bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, kitchen appliances (which are newer). Lots of silver plate serving pieces, lead crystal, glassware, as well as pottery. The kitchen is packed with all sorts of vintage tools. There is even a set of Pyrex still in the box and tons of cookbooks! Full sewing room and surger are available as well as an antique sewing machine. You definitely won’t want to miss the huge assortment of vintage Christmas items as well as a room full of antique quilts, quilt tops and boxes and boxes of fabric! Vintage clothes and costume jewelry will be available. There is also a section of “mantiques” and some 1950’s toys and collectibles!
On Saturday and Sunday, we will offer 2 garages and 2 outside storage rooms for the “pickers” in the bunch. Bring your gloves and boxes and go through years worth of tools, wood, who knows what else you will find!! These items will be sold on a “make an offer” basis.
These folks didn’t throw anything away and it has taken us a month to go through everything!
