If you or your friends don’t receive the email this week, it’s because a bunch of people marked my email as spam or “abuse” last week after I had to send out the email twice due to forgetting to add a sale. That means I’ll probably be blocked by some email services for a while, which means my email that I’ve been working on for hours tonight will go into thin air rather than going to some email inboxes. I’d like to think I’d be allowed to make a mistake every once in a while, but maybe some people don’t realize I’m a human; One who is stretched beyond my limits right now. It’s disheartening, but maybe many won’t be affected.
I’ve had a fairly rough week so far with the Zonta Antique Show. On Monday I finally figured out how I could fill all the booths and only be off a little bit booth-rent-wise from last year. Monday evening I had an exhibitor cancel with a family emergency who left me with a 44’x13′ space open. I quickly rebounded from that by moving another exhibitor with a large booth into that spot from the back and spreading out the neighboring exhibitors. On Tuesday everything snowballed. I received two more cancellations from exhibitors who worked out in the weather too long getting ready for the show and came down with the flu and one who cancelled “for a reason too embarrassing to tell”. That’s a new one! Right now I’m writing from Longview, Texas after the first day of setup and I’m in good spirits as I was able to maneuver booths in such a way that the show looks full and amazing. The quality here may be the best ever even though we are short a few exhibitors. I’ve posted some photos and will post a bunch tomorrow on the Zonta Antique Show Facebook Page. This antique show is a fundraiser for the Zonta Club, a club for businesswomen, who raise money throughout the year to fight human trafficking. The club is full of amazing women who have a passion for the antique show and their club. They have been very encouraging to me even though I’ve had a heck of a time filling the show this year, which I appreciate more than they know. It’s one thing when I receive a gazillion cancellations for my own shows, but completely another when I get a bunch when I’m working for a non-profit club. I’m optimistic the show will pull a large crowd and the admission ticket sales will make up for booth cancellations.
Meanwhile, back at home, Big Caleb has decided he’s going to paint little Caleb’s room and his office while we’re gone. He sent me paint swatches, but said the color “is blue, but shows up more gray in the photo than what it really is”. No telling what I’ll return home to on Sunday. Little Caleb is at my parents’ house having a ball.
Thankfully everything is going really smoothly for next week’s Bella Rustina. I have so many cool things planned for that show and things seem to be falling into place. Once tomorrow’s setup day is over and all the Zonta exhibitors are moved in, I can start getting pumped for Bella Rustina. I think it’s going to be epic.
