Upcoming Estate Sales and Auctions for January 23 – 26

Last Thursday was the Maumelle Chamber of Commerce dinner with the theme “The Roaring Twenties”. I’m seeing lots of events popping up with this theme, so I thought I’d share where I found great dress options at the very last minute. If I would have planned it out better, I could have gotten an awesome outfit (dress, headband, gloves, the works) off Amazon, but I didn’t think of it in time and I preferred buying something I could use again. If I’d thought ahead, I would have also shopped with Erin of Elm’s Attic at the January 11-12 Antique Alley Arkansas. She has a fantastic collection of vintage hats and fascinators. Since the shows take every brain cell I’ve got and then takes days for me to recover, I’m slightly behind on everything right now, hence why I started planning my outfit on Wednesday night before the Thursday night event. On Thursday morning I gave it my best to clean house in preparation for my mother-in-law to come watch the boys during the banquet. Then I picked up little Caleb from pre-K and Caleb, Joshua, and I went dress shopping. The Goodwill had nothing, Kohl’s on Chenal doesn’t even carry formal dresses, and I finally ended up at JCPenney in Shackleford Crossings. It’s awesome how many dresses they have that are 20s-inspired. They had everything from super-sequined to elegant. I found a gorgeous dress, on sale of course, with enough 20s flair that I think it worked. JCPenney thankfully had a large dressing room – I told the boys to turn around and watch videos on my phone while I tried on all my dress options. Our adventure began around 2:30PM and we whizzed around Little Rock and I hit 5:00 traffic on the way home and got home at 5:40. Somehow I got ready and we arrived at the banquet on time at 6:30PM. My only regret is I don’t have any authentic 20s headgear. I have a really cool 40s feather fascinator, but I had to be true to the time period, so I went without a headband or hat.

I wish I would have gotten a better photo, but it was so dark in the room none of my photos came out that great. It was an enjoyable banquet as always – I love seeing many of our local business owners and city officials being recognized for their hard work.
