Happy Thanksgiving! On top of all the many things I’m thankful for, I’m thankful for… baby frogs! During the previous Bella Rustina weekend, Big Caleb set up a tank with a container that would be easy for the froglets to crawl out of and only put the biggest tadpoles with hind legs developed in it. I added a tree branch to make it more homey. We learned the tadpoles are ready to come out of the water when they develop their front legs, so it’s nothing to have a froglet hopping around with a long tail. The froglets get nourishment from their tail until it disappears and then they are supposed to eat. I put wingless fruit flies in their tank daily, but I haven’t caught a frog eating yet. We believe they are Cope’s Gray Treefrogs. We have three frogs so far and around 33 more to go. This is going to get interesting.
I got to go junkin’ last Friday! My pictures are not the best because I should have taken them when I had daylight (and not at midnight). I went to Saugey’s Estate Sale first and picked up the bluebird plate, embroidered bluebird tablecloth, and Lenox Oriental bird tablecloth. The mirror at Bette Bogart’s sale was my reason for making junkin’ happen. The mirror is larger and even prettier in person. Even though it’s a terrible idea with two young boys, I want to eventually have a mirror collection displayed on a wall in my home. I have two great mirrors now and once I get one more, I’ll start on that project. The tall stand is an ashtray holder, but it was so unique I had to have it. The yellow Pyrex bowl was a no-brainer for my hodge-podge Pyrex collection and I couldn’t pass up the old cake pan for $2. The rooster crock is salt glaze pottery from the 90s. It’s newer than I normally buy, but it’s pretty collectible on eBay. I’ve always wanted a “bathing beauty” figurine, so I was thrilled to find the dish at Bette’s sale. I added the maroon McCoy planter to my planter collection too. I was also happy to find some extension cords for the shows – I don’t think I could ever have too many cords.
