I love my show tribe: My exhibitors, customers, workers, family – they make me love my “job” even in the middle of a challenging pandemic. We had so much fun last weekend. I had been concerned we would have too large of a crowd (I had an elaborate plan of how we’d limit entry into the building if it got too busy), but we were fortunate because customers trickled in throughout the weekend rather than coming all at once. I’m so thankful for those customers who supported Antique Alley Arkansas exhibitors. A large number of shows have been canceled all over the country and many exhibitors depend on shows to make a living, so I was glad we could give them a good show. We had a really good lineup of exhibitors and I’m hopeful those exhibitors will join us again at future antique shows.
My favorite part of the weekend was surprising Robin. After show hours, Robin found the most awesome 70s jumpsuit and tried it on – it fit her perfectly! She told me she couldn’t justify buying it because she didn’t know where she’d wear it. She posted the photo below on her Facebook page and everyone went wild commenting how great she looked. I texted Shane, the seller of the jumpsuit, and told him I wanted to get it for her. The next day he had a customer pretend to purchase the jumpsuit and he hid it under his counter. I spent the rest of the weekend trying to figure out how to surprise her with it. Finally, on Sunday night during loadout, Robin stepped away from the office and I snuck the jumpsuit in with her items she was about to load into her truck. It worked out perfectly that I was in the office when she discovered it. I was surprised by how surprised she was to find it! It totally made my weekend. When this terrible pandemic is over, I’m sure Robin will have many opportunities to wear the awesome vintage jumpsuit that fits like it was made for her.
