My mom texted me today asking me if I was busier than a one-armed paper hanger and I definitely am. Since December I had been waiting on a short-term lease contract to have Bella Rustina in a building in Little Rock. Last week I finally gave the realtor a deadline and then found out the hold-up was a thief had stolen all the copper HVAC and plumbing in the building. The building couldn’t be repaired in time for my February 12-14 event, so I called the Conway Expo Center and they are booked through May. I called my mom because she always knows what to do when I hit a brick wall. She suggested I call the new building owners for the building at 9300 Maumelle Boulevard we had last September. I had little hope it would be possible to get a contract in time because I needed a contract turnaround of about two days, but I sent a quick email to the guy in charge of the property at 9300 Maumelle Boulevard anyway. He responded within a couple hours last Thursday and by Friday we were working on an agreeable contract. I had some challenges with the building last year, but the building has heat, so I’ll be able to focus on everything from lighting to parking. I found out that most of the field we parked in is the foundation of a large building, so having a field for parking is much less scary as it was before I learned that helpful tidbit of information. I’m calling around to get quotes on renting lighting so the building won’t be so dark. The building has so much potential and I’m super pumped to try it again with a Valentine’s Day theme. Many exhibitors need a show that weekend, so I’m getting some awesome exhibitors signed up for it.
And then – more exciting news – I’ll also have Antique Alley Arkansas Antique Show there March 5-7. The Zonta Antique Show in Longview, Texas was postponed by the Zonta Club until June. As I’ve called exhibitors to tell them the schedule change, they’ve asked me if I know of other shows to help make up for the Zonta Antique Show being postponed. So many talented exhibitors need a show that I decided to lease the 9300 Maumelle Boulevard building for a whole month and have two shows there. I’m excited to take Antique Alley Arkansas closer to Little Rock. With so many great antique dealers signing up for the March 5-7 show, it’s going to be a doozy!
