I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and made it through the arctic blast okay! In spite of following all the precautions that we knew, we had 4 hot water pipes freeze and burst. I’ve always heard to leave cold water running overnight during cold temps, but not hot water, and we learned the hard, expensive way! Thankfully the pipes burst under our house so nothing in our house was damaged, but everything was so frozen it took the plumber three different visits to fix everything.
We postponed going to my parents’ from Friday to Sunday because the cold was giving us all drama, which gave me an extra day to finish up Christmas shopping. For months Joshua has said he wants a “Monster truck snow bike” for Christmas and although I asked him lots of questions about what that looked like, I never could get a clear description. I figured I’d get him some sort of vehicle he could ride in, but none of the vehicles in the Wal-Mart toy section were Monster Trucks, so I settled with a Hot Wheels car. After I found someone to haul it out for me, I spotted the El Toro Loco Monster Truck by the door as we left. I took the Hot Wheels car home, but after discussing the Monster Truck with Big Caleb, we both decided I needed to take the Hot Wheels car back for the Monster Truck. That was a workout! But the boys absolutely love it. Little Caleb has had as much fun with it as Joshua!
I got some awesome gifts this year myself! My mother-in-law gave me a ring light – She has no idea how much I’ve needed one for taking photos! My mom gave me a wonderful addition to my head vase collection – This lady is an impressive 9″ tall!
We had an awesome Christmas and now we’re looking forward to the new year! Next weekend is the January 6-8 Antique Alley Arkansas Antique Show. This antique show will be bigger than the past few years and I’m very excited about the exhibitor lineup. We have some awesome new exhibitors as well as some great exhibitors we haven’t seen in a few years. I’m looking forward to the show!
I bet the estate sales will be back in full force next weekend.
