Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say “Hi” at Maumelle’s Bash on the Boulevard. I had a rough morning and it lifted my spirits to meet you. I’ll have to admit I didn’t want to participate in the event originally because last year we had Bella Rustina in September and it was sooo miserably hot (this year Bella Rustina is November 18-20). Big Caleb encouraged me to participate anyway, and I’m glad I did despite my troubles that morning. I didn’t want both Calebs to get up early, so I let them sleep in while I attempted to set up my booth. I knew my tent would be the hardest part, but hoped I could either get lucky and put it up myself or find someone to help me. It was pretty clear after a 5 minute struggle with my tent that I needed help. I was relieved when I saw state representative Mark Lowery coming my way, but thought I’d give the tent one more tug in case I could miraculously get the tent to cooperate. What I didn’t know at the time is there was a screw missing from another part of the tent that made the rod I had just snapped in place not as secure as usual, so that tug I gave caused that rod to unsnap and punch me in the face. It hurt so bad, but I tried to pull it off as if nothing had happened. I greeted Mr. Lowery, but he quickly told me I needed to tend to my face because my cheek was bleeding. I wiped my face with my hands until I couldn’t keep up and had to get my first aid kit out. I finally stopped the bleeding and the event promoter gave me a bag of ice, which worked wonders. I finished up my booth and finally went to Sherwood Urgent Care, where I was told stitches would leave just as much of a scar as doing nothing, so I was given butterfly stitches instead. As of now I have a slightly blackened eye, but the cut has healed really well. After that drama and the wind the tent endured, the tent will have to be replaced. Next time I’m buying a tent that I can put up by myself! The rest of the day was awesome because I sold a few things, met lots of people, and was able to hand out lots of promo cards for the November shows.
There’s a good number of sales this weekend! I got a first-hand look at the RetroCats Estate Sale in Conway when I took by some folding tables and it has some of the best quality furnishings I’ve seen in an estate in a while. It’s definitely worth a closer look if you’re usually hesitant to drive to Conway.
Here are all the sales I know about for this weekend:
