Since it’s less than 8 weeks until the November 12-13 Antique Alley Arkansas Antique Show in Conway and November 18-20 Bella Rustina Modern Vintage Market in Little Rock, I’ve begun taking promotional cards to shops to help advertise the shows. I didn’t realize just how much I drive around until my AC went out in my truck last week and I had to get a loaner vehicle until the warranty work was complete. Between last Wednesday and Monday I drove over 400 miles! My loaner vehicle was a Chevy Equinox, which is a cute little SUV. One of my stops was by Galaxy Furniture, where Wayne specializes in office furniture, but I normally make a beeline for the awesome vintage stuff upstairs. At home I have set up a mini-office so I can work while Little Man plays, but the super neat vintage industrial office chair I was using becomes very uncomfortable after sitting for hours working on projects like the weekly email. When I saw office chairs in the window of Galaxy Furniture, I decided I had a great opportunity to shop local. Big Caleb’s office chair has an arm that randomly falls off while he’s playing computer games (I’ve had multiple laughs at his sudden shrieks as he has almost fallen into the floor), so I found him a nice comfortable used office chair too — and stuffed them in the Equinox. I wish I’d gotten a photo because they almost didn’t fit! At Hidden Treasures in Sherwood I found a gorgeous pair of purple slag glass hens on nest (see photo to the right/at bottom of email on mobile) for great prices and then at Sweet Home Furnishings I found the coolest hangers ever for my event shirts. It’s a little difficult to see in the photo, but the wire hangers have the silhouette of a woman with a very pointed bust. This feature is not as obvious as I expected it would be when there’s a shirt on the hanger, so the hangers won’t be as attention-getting, but they are perfect for use at the shows!
I’ve had a blast going out junkin’ and I’ve still got a few cities to go – It’s nothing for me to hit 30+ shops passing out show cards. I love my “job”!

Every book you can imagine on building, too!! The lady of the house was an award winning baker, and apparently a very accomplished cook. She was Austrian, they met right after the war, (WWII) and she has every cookbook you can imagine, also many books in German, cookbooks, and others. I believe one of the children was a scientist. There are dozens of pyrex beakers, and connector pieces and mixer pieces, and a few apothecary jars. ANd other things that scientists would use! Also someone loved to collect rocks. Most of them are small but there are dozens of rocks, and some very rare fossils. There are also many “hippy” age books so you might want to come and take a look.
