Lately I’ve come across some buying opportunities that I couldn’t pass up. Ashley’s Finds used to be where I’d share about my weekly finds while going to estate sales, but since I gave up my booths I don’t really buy anymore (plus Little Caleb makes shopping a little more exciting). However, sometimes I just can’t let a unique opportunity pass me by. Big Caleb told me a couple weeks ago one of the Maumelle aldermen had a large collection of old candy containers that he was looking to liquidate. I spoke with the alderman last week and met with him on Thursday. I was thinking of the colorful plastic candy containers, so I was amazed when I arrived to a table full of glass candy containers! They cover Christmas, Easter, WWII, and typical household items like a candlestick phone. Thankfully they are small, so they only take up two boxes. I haven’t had a chance to get them all out yet because Little Caleb is intrigued by them. In fact, I’ve had to hide them in a closet! Hopefully I can get them out and share my favorites soon.
My crazier purchase happened yesterday. Last week I noticed an ad on Facebook for some chicken nesting boxes that were priced wholesale. I was intrigued, but didn’t have time to mess with it. Then the owner of the nesting boxes called me on Sunday asking me if I’d like to purchase them. Once I found out she had over 100, I was more interested in making the one hour drive. So I picked up 71 nesting boxes — I used almost every square inch in my trailer and stacked them as tall as I could in the back of my truck. They are going to be a bigger job than I was hoping to get them cleaned up to sell, but I’m hoping to get at least a handful ready for Bella Rustina in Conway next weekend to put flowers in to decorate the show.
Don’t forget the Lions Club Market and Bazaar this Saturday on 5th and Main in Downtown Little Rock. It’s free to attend and they will have something for everyone from antiques and vintage, to antique and new vehicles, to drone demonstrations, and other fun attractions. I’ll put the ad with the estate sale listings below.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter! I’m looking forward to hiding eggs this year with Little Caleb. He’s going to have a blast! Here are the sales I know about:
