Upcoming Estate Sales and Auctions for September 7 – 10

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

Last week I neglected to tell you that I was sitting in our hotel room updating the email in Colorado because I didn’t want the whole world to know we weren’t home. Caleb and I went on an epic road trip to Colorado with no plans other than to end up in Denver. I had never been on a “road trip without a plan”, so I was skeptical that we’d end up spending more money than necessary or waste a lot of time figuring out what to do. Neither was an issue. Every night at the hotel we’d look at travel books and pick where we wanted to go. Caleb drove the whole 2,500+ miles. When he started getting tired, I’d pull up the closest city on the Hotels.com app and pick the hotel that was the best deal for the best rating and book it. We’d check in when we got to the hotel and they’d already have our reservation. I love technology!

Speaking of technology, on the way to Denver, I looked up “vintage tobacco basket” in the Denver Craigslist classifieds and found a bonifide tobacco basket far away from tobacco harvesting territory in Elizabeth, CO. The guy had picked it up on a business trip to South Carolina. As I visited shops and talked to locals, no one had a clue what it was — that guy might not have sold his basket any time soon if I hadn’t come along! They are so popular here these days and it’s hard to find real ones so I’m trying to track down someone who sells them for the October 13-15 Bella Rustina. I have emails out to some leads and hope to hear back from them.
We spent the rest of our time in Elizabeth, CO going to antique shops. I found a Jackie Kennedy mourning head vase for a steal.

Back-tracking a bit, but in Salinas, Kansas, we visited a 100+ year old building that was originally a bank. It was three stories of antique and vintage goodness. Caleb collects Lions Club pins and found a box of them to pick through while I enjoyed shopping. I picked up an awesome blue Pyrex lasagna baking dish and pink Hazel Atlas dinner plates for a great price. I enjoyed myself thoroughly!

Our first day in Denver we went to the Butterfly Pavilion and Aquarium. Both were awesome. That evening we met up with one of Caleb’s childhood friends that we haven’t seen since our wedding 9 years ago.

The next day we went to Estes Park, CO and saw the Rocky Mountains. It was more and more breath-taking the higher we drove up the mountains.

On our final day, we high-tailed it to Tulsa, OK so I could visit my exhibitor friends at the Vintage Tulsa Show. I made lots of new contacts for the shows and enjoyed seeing exhibitors I haven’t seen in a while. It’s always a lot of work (I talked to people constantly for 5+ hours), but after all the good vibes from talking to so many in Tulsa, I was on cloud nine and ready to get back home to work on my shows. We got home that evening and I picked up Little Caleb on Sunday.

Little Caleb lived it up all week with his “Granny and Pa” in Searcy. I received photos every day of him having a blast. I’d talk to him on the phone and I could tell he wasn’t missing us at all, which made things so much easier.

Although a cruise would have been much more restful, I’m thrilled we got to take the trip last week. We’ll re-schedule the cruise for a time when the hurricanes aren’t so rampant in a few months. I took a bunch of photos and hope to write a more detailed blog post if I ever have a few spare hours (ha ha).

Since we only had one sale last week, they really piled up this week, but they look amazing! Here’s what I know:
