During the last Antique Alley Arkansas Antique Show, an exhibitor borrowed some of my tablecloths because he couldn’t find his and then he left the tablecloths on his tables for us to pick up. Don, who works with Roy Dudley, understandably picked up the tablecloths with the intentions of taking them to the exhibitor, so last weekend I had a great excuse to run by Roy Dudley’s sale to pick up my tablecloths and do some shopping. It’s a fantastic sale – I was greeted by no telling how many religious figures at the front door of Roy’s Tanglewood location, which prompted me to call one of my exhibitors from Louisiana who collects religious items. After around 45 minutes of me sharing photos and then locating the figurines Mr. Earle described to me, he picked out a nice selection. It was an educating experience since I had very little knowledge of the different saints and what different symbols mean going into the phone call. Mr. Earle is excited about the finds and will pick them up in March at Bella Rustina. My mom collects teal/turquoise pottery planters and bluebirds, so I was thrilled to pick up some awesome planters and some chalkware hanging bluebirds for her.
Meanwhile, Little Caleb was at his “Rennie and Pa’s” playing in what I call a “country sandbox” because Dad dug a hole with his backhoe and then filled it with sand. I spent too much time stopping at shops on the way to Searcy to get there early on Friday, so by the time I got there Little Caleb was so worn out from playing that he greeted me for a few minutes and then fell asleep in my lap. Cutest.thing.ever.
I didn’t find any local estate auctions for this weekend, but there’ll be some good auctions early next week. I need to find a good business auction soon. I’ve been spoiled by my event venues so far in that they provide the cleaning supplies and do most of the cleaning. Now that I’ll be renting the former Wal-Mart building in Maumelle for the March 9-11 Bella Rustina, I’ll be responsible for everything from trash cans to toilet paper. And even the utilities are separate, which is scary, because I have no clue how to guesstimate what those will be. Sam’s will come in handy for most supplies, but I hope to find an auction to purchase some of the reusable stuff. Otherwise Lowe’s will love me.
