We’ve had an enlightening few days. Last Thursday Big Caleb wasn’t feeling well, so he went to one of the urgent care places to be tested for the flu. Sure enough, he was diagnosed with Type A flu. The doctor prescribed Tamiflu for Little Caleb and me. Little did I know that stomach issues and vomiting is the main side-effect of Tamiflu. I had read the side effects in the insert with the medicine, but didn’t realize the long list continued on the next page. Poor Little Caleb has been vomiting on and off since Saturday. I first assumed he had a 24 hour stomach bug, but when he kept having issues, I finally put two and two together and quit giving him Tamiflu Sunday. He continued to vomit until early this morning, so I took him to the doctor. Ends up the vomiting irritated Little Caleb’s stomach to the point that he would vomit if he ate anything substantial. The doctor prescribed another medicine to fix his stomach. If that doesn’t work he’ll have to take Prevacid for a couple weeks! I was up all night with stomach issues and felt awful this morning, so I just assumed I was getting the flu. After resting today I now feel fine, so I’m thinking I had a bad reaction to it too. I’m hoping we got enough Tamiflu in our systems that we won’t get the flu now, because if we do it will be so unfortunate. Thankfully Big Caleb’s flu didn’t amount to much and he’s already feeling better.
