Last weekend I showed Little Caleb my old stomping grounds, the creek that’s near my parents’ house. I was always a tomboy and loved catching critters growing up. The only difference is back then I had to scour encyclopedias to figure out what I had caught and now we have Google. The apple has not fallen far from the tree as Little Caleb catches everything he can get his hands on. A few weeks ago, Little Caleb barged in the front door with the neighbor girl with a skink (lizard) cupped in his hands. The lizard had bitten him and brought blood and he didn’t care (I didn’t let him keep it). Lately my parents have hundreds of toads everywhere on their property, so he catches as many as he can and then lets them go later that evening. During our visit on Sunday I took him to the nearby creek to introduce him to crawdads. Thankfully the ones we encountered were very small because he had to learn the hard way about their pincers. Getting pinched didn’t phase him because we now have a pet crawdad. Along with a couple grasshoppers he’s miraculously kept alive in a jar for almost a month. It’s fun to take a break from the craziness and relive some childhood memories.

I visited Fabulous Finds in Little Rock last week and noticed they are celebrating their 25th anniversary and they have everything 25% off original prices over $20. The vendors have really outdone themselves and the shop looks amazing! Click here for their details.
Mom called me yesterday from the Goodwill and caused me all kinds of “trouble”. She found over thirty pieces of beautiful American Fostoria stemware and I couldn’t leave them to be “repurposed” into someone’s next garden art. I also found an amazing print that I had to have, Stangl pottery dishes, and even a chalkware skunk with a face that looks like Hitler. Everything is still in my truck as I have nowhere to put it, but I did take a photo of the print. The print reminds me of back when I was dating Big Caleb and we played our first chess game. The game lasted for over 2 hours because I couldn’t stand to let him win. Nobody should be as smart as he is! Now, here we are, celebrating 11 years of marriage August 9th.
