I got to walk down memory lane last week with my purchases from Caring Transitions’ auctions. As with every auction and estate sale I’ve ever been to, I bought way more things than what I originally planned to bid on. Most of the stuff is from my childhood (80s-90s), which made it fun. I won vintage hockey skates and roller blades that little Caleb wears around the house just about daily. Mom lost the blades to her blender and I was able to get her a practically brand new glass-pitcher blender for $3.50. I also got my parents enough puzzles (24 to be exact) to last them a long while. My favorite purchase was vintage fashion plates. As soon as I saw them I got that warm-fuzzy nostalgic feeling. I think I played with fashion plates way-back-when in daycare.

The best part is all the plates are there! The plates can be used to mix and match outfits and the back of the most of the plates have patterns to be used on the clothing. The only thing missing is the original colored pencils. Even the “special crayons” with their holder for outlining the figures were included. I enjoyed showing them to Little Caleb and he was amused for about 5 minutes until Joshua-the-tornado came over and started stealing plates and trying to pour them all out.

Speaking of Little Caleb, he is officially done with pre-school. This Fall he will be going to kindergarten. And he wants to be a “bow and arrow guy” when he grows up. His pre-K asked me to take a photo with him holding a sign that says where he’s going to kindergarten and what he wants to be when he grows up. I asked him all last weekend what he wanted to be when he grew up and he never wavered from “bow and arrow guy”. He can’t explain what that job entails or how it makes money, but I suppose it does sound fun.

It’s great to see more live sales this weekend. Here are the ones I know about:
