I took the boys to Toad Suck Daze last Saturday. We spent the majority of our day at the little petting zoo filled with rabbits, goats, chickens, and puppies. I’m not a big fan of petting zoos because of the stress on the animals, but the boys are huge fans. Little Caleb is quite the chicken-wrangler. He had the best time catching the chickens and putting them together on hay bales. The chickens were incredibly good sports. Joshua loved on the bunnies the whole time and has been bugging me all week to go back. I’m sure we’ll be visiting another petting zoo soon

MASSIVE WAREHOUSE HOARDER SALE – 7500 square feet – JAM PACKED
This three weekend sale includes thousands of items. Most are from a hoarder house where 65 years of things were collected. There’s something for everyone in it. Tons of collectibles and a great many practical items. The pictures just give a flavor of what is available.
TREKKIES, STAR WAR FANS, SPACE INVADERS, SUPERHEROS UNITE: This sale includes hundreds of Star Wars and Star Trek items, including fine coffee table books, vintage comic books (galore – many wrapped), collectible glassware, movie posters, sound tracks, etc. The hoarder lived in a fantasy fiction world, wrote unpublished screen plays for years and collected a huge amount of material, including large format fantasy magazines, and decades of literature and collectibles starting in the 1950’s. Comics include Planet of the Apes, Dracula, Superman and lots of other superheros. It’s overwhelming!
KITCHEN, KITCHEN: Almost 2000 square feet just of kitchen things. Large collections of vintage Corel, Pyrex, vintage Tupperware. Bread machines, coffee makers of all shapes and sizes from espresso to church sized percolator, thermoses, vintage cast iron, vintage Indiana glass of many different shapes and sizes, vintage bread boxes, unopened knife sets plus many other knives, lots of cutlery, scores of bags of useful kitchen items sorted and offered for reasonable prices, marble and wooden boards, rolling pins, hundreds of mugs and all sorts of glassware, including more than a little unused Miayka and Luminarc stemware, steamers, vintage canning pots, vintage mixers and blenders, vintage toaster, deep fryers, crock pots, on and on. Look closely at the pictures to get a sense of the scale and range.
SPORT: Vintage croquet sets, vintage bowling balls, travel cue sticks, golf clubs and balls, unused Coleman gas lights, some fishing supplies, badminton, baseball bats, ping pong set up, kettle ball, exercise straps, plus more.
FURNITURE: Great leather sofa from Pottery Barn, leatherette love seat, multiple vintage arm chairs, kitchen tables of various kinds, bar stools, vintage desks of different sizes, end tables, deco chest of drawers, large chest of drawers, steamer chests, captains chairs, mid century chairs, including office chair, upholstered high backed arm chairs, foot stools, cast iron settee, carved Art Nouveau marble topped commode, side tables of various kinds.
OUTDOOR COOKING and CAMPING: Smokers, hibachis, Weber grill, tiki torches, various grill equipment and supplies, coolers. Coleman propane lamps in carrying cases, and many propane bottles. Vintage optimus stove. Camping cookware. Vintage sleeping bags. Huge number of vintage aluminum frame and web folding chairs and chaise lounges, cast iron log holder for fireplace, large circular metal log stacker. .
FUN AND GAMES: Unused History Channel Civil War game box including chess set, backgammon and other games. Piles of unopened playing cards. Poker chips. Vintage and new domino sets. Bingo ball spinner. Many board games. Vintage school quality plastic anatomical “ear” and “tongue” to assemble.
HAND TOOLS AND GARAGE STUFF: Hundreds of pliers, scrapers, wrenches, hammers, scissors, measuring tapes, screwdrivers, putty kinves, scrapers, levels, on and on. Propane tanks. Gas tanks. Tool boxes. Shop vacs. Two large Craftsman tool chests. Many smaller vintage tool boxes. Many good quality American made vintage tools, often with little use. Trimmers, saws, garden tools, lawn mower, blowers. Kerosene heater. Auto repair supplies and some GM OEM parts. Jacks. Shovels, rakes, hoes, brooms.. The garage was completely crammed.
BUILDING PARTS: Large translucent plastic domed skylights (three). Great and heavy veneer supply room door from the 50’s with a door cut in it and shelf to hand over supplies. As items are sold, many antique doors which are being used for the sale and newly built saw horses will be sold off. Large antique faucet for wall mounted kitchen sink.
MEDICAL TOOLS AND SUPPLIES: Remarkable assortment of very high quality vintage surgical tools. Hundreds of scissors, pincers, etc. often German or American made. Vintage apothecary jars. Stethoscopes, otoscopes, other tools of the trade, scrubs, linens, cleansers, vials. Come medical professionals and check this out!
ELVIS, BARBIE, DISNEY AND DOLLS: Elvis monopoly game, books, VHS tapes, CD, cassette tapes and records. Other Elvis Trinkets. Several vintage barbie dolls, barely used or still in the box. Disney 1990s glassware new in the box. Piles of dolls and little plush toys.
OFFICE SUPPLIES: Crammed with vintage office supplies. It’s like a mini-Office Depot from 1995. Completely nuts. Notepads of all different sizes, ledger books, tractor printer paper (yes, reams of it unopened), staplers, pens, markers, file folders, clips, index cards, rolodex, unopened pop up address holders, rolodex and cards, stamps, hundreds of scissors, erasers, all manner of office handy and weird stuff.
BOOKS, RECORDS, VHS AND CASSETTE TAPES: Hundreds of books including paperback, hard cover and coffee table – a great many having to do with movies and the film industry. Disney children’s book collection. Bibles and spiritual, financial, travel, cooking, encyclopedia – books of all kinds, some dating to the 40’s and before. Hundreds of LP’s with movie scores, plus other LP’s, 45’s and 78’s. Hundreds of VHS tapes including many unopened blank tapes still in the box.
VINTAGE ELECTRONICS AND ACCESSORIES: Pioneer turntable, VHS players, walkmen, CD radio, old TV’s, 1960’s home entertainment centers, dictation tapes, Bose speaker, other speakers for computer or hi fi, touch tone and other phones, cassette tape and CD holders.
ART AND CERAMIC SCULPTURE: Some quite nice vintage lithographs and prints, some authenticated and limited editions. Many picture frames and photo albums (remember those?). Menagerie of adorable small ceramic sculptures, including deer, frogs, rabbits, etc.
RUGS: Various vintage hooked rugs, small oriental, native American, nice larger good quality Indian hand made rug.
CLEANING SUPPLIES: Gallons and gallons of hospital grade cleaning supplies. Unused mop heads. Good cotton rags. Sponges.
LARGE APPLIANCES: Samsung fridge (new, but needs repair), two older washer dryer sets.
PERSONAL CARE: Hair dryers, clippers, mirrors, make up stuff, 1960’s hair dryer, foot spa, all sorts of fun stuff. 1960’s men’s double edged razor blades.
LUGGAGE: There’s a whole section of that too.
PHOTO AND MOVIES: Kodak, Minolta and other older non-digital cameras. Bell and Howell reel to reel. Quality projection screens. Miscellany of film and camera accessories.
LAMPS AND LIGHTING: Unboxed halogen torchieres. Lamp shades and many glass lamp covers from the 40’s to the present. Antique standing lamps needing love. Vintage industrial ceiling lamps and large exterior lights. Large old ARKLA gas lamp. Kerosene lamps. Candle holders.
BEDS AND LINENS: Blankets, quilts, sheets, throws – some unopened. Many aprons. Bath and hand towels. Twin trundle bed. Lovely carved Art Nouveau full sized bed frame with foot and headboard. Two good quality queen sized beds. Lightly used mattress covers. Many pillows, pillow covers .
QUILTS: Beautiful collection of various quilts, mostly vintage and handmade. Some in excellent condition.
MEN’S CLOTHING: Most for man around 5’10, 170 lbs, range of jackets, pants, sweaters, golf shirts, including Burberry, LL Bean and other quality items – some vintage.
ARKANSAS MEMORABILIA: Razorback stuff, old license plates, old locally branded yardsticks, rulers, key holders.
CHRISTMAS: Glassware, lights, decorations. A whole roomful, waiting to be unpacked and photographed.
FOR THOSE IN NEED: Crutches, braces, potties, canes, walkers. Not fun, but useful when mobility is limited and the time comes.
