A little over a month ago I put Little Caleb in part-time daycare. It has been awesome because Little Caleb has blossomed with his speaking and learning and I have been getting 2 days a week to run errands and make phone calls. Unfortunately another daycare in Maumelle closed, causing a waiting list for the one we’ve been using, so the only way Little Caleb can stay is if I pay for full-time care. It doesn’t make money-sense to do it, so after next week we’ll be back to my buddy and me doing everything together, which is fine with me because I miss him when he’s not home. So last Friday we had childcare so Big Caleb and I went on a Maumelle Chamber field trip to tour the Little Rock Air Force Base. I quickly realized how little I knew about the place. The LRAFB is the primary C-130 Hercules training base for the Department of Defense, training C-130 pilots, navigators, flight engineers, and loadmasters from all branches of the US military in tactical airlift and aerial delivery. We toured the C-130 planes, looked into the incredible flight simulators, and saw the life-size plane models that are used to train the mechanics. Everything is so well-thought-out and incredibly impressive. I would encourage anyone to go see this local gem if they get a chance.
After the LRAFB tour, I talked Caleb into going to the Arkansas Craft Guild Christmas Showcase. He didn’t think he’d enjoy it at all, yet he ended up spending more money than I did! He has wanted a jar of honey with a honeycomb in it for a while, so he got one of those and then bought a handful of locally-made chocolate bars. I’m assuming some of them are for Christmas gifts and hoping that I’ll get at least one. 🙂
The sales will start winding down pretty soon before Christmas, so we need to take advantage of all the junkin’ possibilities while we can. We’ve got a pretty good list for this weekend. Here’s what I know:
