I figured I’d be watching the weather tonight while typing up the email, but I don’t think it’s rained a drop! I’m not complaining in the slightest — other than my truck is green right now (supposed to be blue) from a thick coat of pollen. Otherwise, the less stress, the better. I grew up on the outskirts of Searcy on Hwy 36, aka Tornado Alley. Every time there’s bad weather the system goes over my parents’ house. We’ve had tornadoes touch down as close as half a mile away. Soon after that close call, Dad built a storm shelter underground with concrete that’s 9″ thick with a door so heavy I can hardly lift it. Inside he has a ratchet system for holding the door shut. Who knows how it would hold out if a tornado actually came through, but in theory it’s pretty solid!
