Last Thursday when I received the photos for Bette Bogart’s estate sale I knew I was in trouble. They had multiple shelves full of great vintage pottery and I just happen to love Camark, Shawnee, and especially McCoy. My problem was that my final Maumelle leadership class was Friday morning when they opened, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to get there first thing. Thankfully we finished early with the leadership class — We actually had an “Amazing Race” scavenger hunt with historical clues about different locations throughout Maumelle that we had to figure out and then find, which was super fun. I expected the pottery to be picked over by the time I arrived at Bette’s sale, but I was able to purchase almost every piece I went after. They are now displayed in the Art Deco curio cabinet I inherited from my great aunt. I had an appointment in Conway at 1:30, but I couldn’t resist stopping by Rook’s estate sale just a couple streets over. Joe was working on a fantastic peacock tin toy that I hope he got working because it was gorgeous. I couldn’t stay long, but I still picked up a Memory Lane pie baker on my way out. I amazingly made it on time to the appointment. Big Caleb got to have a guy’s day with Little Caleb, which was great for them and especially great for me to get out and have a fun “me day”.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for each one of you and your support of me and my endeavors. I felt like a celebrity of sorts when I was walking up to Bette’s sale and so many stopped to thank me for this weekly email. Since I’m behind a screen it’s sometimes easy to forget that this email goes out to a bunch of people that actually read it, which just gives me the warm fuzzies that what I’m doing is helpful and appreciated. I enjoy putting the email together each week, so y’all are just fueling the fire!
