I have been so busy with the upcoming shows that I didn’t realize today is Valentine’s Day. It never crossed my mind that Little Caleb’s pre-k class would require any work outside of class to celebrate, but his teacher informed me today when I picked him up that she didn’t realize I wasn’t in the group text and that he needs a Valentines Day box today, Thursday. When I picked up Little Caleb, I was in a hurry to get him home to hang out with my Mom and his brother so I could high-tail it to the former Gordmans building to work. So after I finally got home I did what typical me does when I don’t have time to go to the store: Try to figure out what I have around the house to make do. The best I could come up with was putting a vinyl Hulk face on a green minnow bucket. I personally think it’s brilliant, but the look on Big Caleb’s face and my mom’s response when I sent her a photo told me that only a junker would love my concoction. And y’all know as well as I do that non-junkers don’t get it and think we’re crazy for loving rusty, chippy, old stuff. So I scratched the idea and I have absolutely no idea when I will go get a store-made box, which goes against my every grain because I would have loved to make the box with Little Caleb. Honestly the best time would be now, at 3AM because I have zero extra minutes in the morning, but I’m just not that ambitious right now. The former Gordmans building is filled with huge shelving fixtures in one corner and I have hired a moving company to move them in the morning so the fixtures become walls for non-wall booths. I think it will add a touch of pizzazz to the show and exhibitors will love having adjustable shelving available. Lots of exciting things happening right now. I’m exhausted, but loving every minute of it!
