Whew! What a week so far! Little Caleb’s 8th birthday party on Saturday was a blast. The weather was perfect and everything went smoothly. Throughout last week I invited the neighborhood kids to Caleb’s party as I saw them and we also invited Caleb’s classmates from school and family. We had over 30 kids and parents come enjoy a big bouncy house, pizza, and cake. 
On Sunday, the boys and I went to visit my parents’. Mom asked if any estate sales were in Searcy and I told her about V Smith’s sale. Mom found the beautiful Blenko vase (bottled water for scale) below and I fell in love, but I wasn’t a fan of the price. I left a bid on it and found out yesterday I won it! Most estate sales accept bids for items. Leaving bids is an awesome tool to use if you think the discounted price is too high or if you want to do a bundle deal. I’ve even seen people leave bids just slightly higher than the 50% off price so they get the item before the rush of the final discount day. Every estate sale agent does things differently, so it’s always good to ask their bid policies so you can put the best strategy to use.
Both of my parents decided to have major procedures done this week, which is not stressful at all (ha!). Dad recently found out he had Afib (irregular heartbeat), so he got his heart shocked back into rhythm Monday. Mom had a mastectomy today. Up until this year she has never had a mammogram and somehow noticed a lump and got it checked out. We don’t have a history of cancer in our family, so it just goes to show women (age 40+) need to have a mammogram regularly regardless of family history. Mom came through the surgery fine and thankfully her lymph nodes were negative for cancer (the cancer hasn’t spread anywhere else). Recovery won’t be fun, but she’s tough. She cracked me up when I went to visit her after the surgery. She was so tired and a little loopy, but one of the first things she told me was to make sure I put the Blenko vase up high so the boys won’t break it.
Joshua’s pre-school class went to the pumpkin patch this morning, so I took him while Mom was going through pre-op stuff. He had the best time!
This weekend we’ll be participating in Trunk or Treats and other festivities. I hope to make some time to visit at least one estate sale and maybe take a glorious nap. Happy Halloween! Here are the sales I know about for this weekend:
