I’m excited to report Jessie and I got first place in the Women’s Novice category at Festivus! I still can’t believe it. We did well in the first three workouts and found out we were in first place. The last workout involved lots of burpees (basically throwing yourself on the ground and picking yourself up as quickly as possible 21 times, 15 times, 9 times with weight lifting in-between). Somehow we beat 9 other teams at burpees to hold onto first place. I would have never believed in a million years we could pull it off, but we really wanted it and pushed ourselves hard to make it happen. I was so sore Sunday, but it was completely worth it. We are ranked nationwide 59th out of 748 Women’s Novice teams. I guess I’ve found something I’m good at at the ripe old age of 40!
On top of the excitement of Festivus, I hosted Little Caleb’s 9th birthday party on Friday and we went to see Monster Trucks Saturday night. It was a crazy busy weekend just like I like it.

Local artist and custom framer Terry Williams is retiring and selling his collections. The sale includes original artwork by regional artists, framed and unframed, wood carvings by Williams and others, duck calls, signed and number art prints. Artists include early Lee Freppon, Duane Hada, David Stair, Jayne Wilson. Terry spent a lifetime collecting antique postcards, so there will be a large selection of those for sale. Tables are stacked with hundreds of small and large posters from the last 50 years, of all themes — wildlife, hunting, SEC sports, classic cars, farms, Victorian girls, farming, beaches, fish. They range in price from $5 to $25, unframed. Framing is available since he’s keeping his Terry’s Frame Shop equipment. This is a three-day event that starts on Thursday. Terry Williams will be on hand from 5-7 Thursday night to sign his own prints, books and drawings. This is exclusively an art and collectibles sale; no furniture, clothing, household goods, guns or tools are available.
