| I’m almost a week post-shoulder surgery and I’m doing great. I have 3 incisions Dr. Hussey used to clean out a large bone spur, arthritis, bursitis, synovitis, and tendonitis. No wonder my shoulder was killing me! For months I would baby my arm until it stopped hurting and then the pain would come back as soon as I went back to my normal activities. Apparently the bone spur and arthritis took up so much room that any sort of activity aggravated my shoulder. I was given a nerve blocker for my surgery and felt like a million bucks afterward because I was without pain for the first time in months. The weird part is my arm was dead weight for 24 hours – I couldn’t move my arm or fingers. I wore a sling until I got feeling back in my arm. I’m gradually getting back the mobility of my shoulder. The day after surgery I could hardly reach my face, but today I was thrilled I could (barely) put my hair up in a ponytail. Dressing and undressing is very painful, but I’m hoping that pain will go away in a few more days. I took pain medication on the first night because I was anticipating waking up in major pain after the nerve blocker wore off, but after that I haven’t been in enough pain to warrant taking pain medication. I have significant bruising around the incisions and down my bicep from the surgery, but that’s normal. Yesterday and today I went to my Crossfit Bootcamp class. I was hesitant because I knew I wouldn’t be able to do all the movements, but my coaches were very creative in giving me alternatives and I got great workouts both days. I don’t want to lose muscle or endurance, so I’ll continue to do what I can in the gym even if it’s one-armed. I’m thrilled I can still work out because that hour of my day is how I mentally recharge and work out stress. Now I can’t wait to get better (in 2-3 months) so I can get back to throwing weight around!
Last week I mentioned I shopped Miss Estate Sales the week before but didn’t get around to taking photos. Above are some of my fun finds from that sale. It’s been a while since I’ve seen potato chip tins, so I had to snatch those. I love the Christmas colors of the spice tins and I’ve seen some pretty fun DIY projects made with them, so I got those for a great price. The tin in the front is an old tobacco tin. The tin is so pretty I wonder if it was marketed for women. That was a neat sale – I have a trip to Soloman’s Island, Maryland coming up and I can’t wait to go junkin’ and share all my finds while I’m there. I’ve never been there, so if you know any secret spots I need to see, please share!
