| If you’ve been around me any in the past three months or so, you’ve probably heard me complain about my shoulder pain. I did a power clean in my Crossfit bootcamp class and felt a *Pop*Pop* in my bicep followed by tons of pain. I tore my bicep tendon and irritated my shoulder in the process. Within two weeks of the injury I started physical therapy. My bicep healed quickly, but my shoulder pain persisted. My physical therapist assumed I tore my labrum tendon in my shoulder and insisted I get an MRI. I got an X-ray and steroid shot a month ago and my pain turned into almost a constant dull pain. At that appointment the nurse assumed I had bicep tendonitis. I finally got an MRI a couple weeks ago and I received some exciting news today. All this time the pain has been from a bone spur (The bump under the red mark in the photo)! The doctor told me it’s double the size he’s ever seen someone my age have. He doesn’t have any idea why the bone spur is so big, but he was easily able to prove it is the problem by putting pressure on it. The MRI shows the bone spur is fraying my rotator cuff tendon, which could eventually cause my rotator cuff to tear. At the end of July I’ll have the bone spur removed. Then everyone will get to hear me complain about not being able to work out, but the recovery time is pretty short. Within 3 months I should be able to throw weight around the gym like I used to. I’m so excited to have an answer and a chance to be back to normal!
