Loot Shoot! I found so many goodies out junkin’ on Saturday! I took my nutrition/life/business coach with me to Roy Dudley’s and Bijoux Estate Sales and South Main Creative. Those were her first estate sales to visit and she loved them! I found the awesome McCoy planters in the garage at Roy Dudley’s Estate Sale. I left bids on the fireplace mantels at Bijoux Estate Sale and won them! I love the details of the white mantel and knew I wanted it for sure. My coach encouraged me to leave a bid on the green mantel because it is gorgeous also. I was concerned because it is huge and I knew I’d have to unload it by myself, but I left a bid anyway.
Are you familiar with leaving bids at an estate sale? Leaving a bid can be a great strategy. Most estate sale companies will have a jar with bid sheets located near the checkout of their sales. In my example, the price at half-price for the white mantel was a great price, so on Saturday (20% off day), I left a bid of a couple dollars above half-price so I had a great chance of it being mine at the end of the day Saturday (given someone else didn’t leave a higher bid). I wasn’t a huge fan of the half-price amount on the green mantel, so I bid $25 less than the half-price amount. By leaving a lower-than-half-price bid on the green mantel, I had to wait until the end of the sale to find out if the estate would honor the bid. I got the call on Sunday that I won both! The guys with Bijoux Estate Sales loaded the mantels for me in the pouring rain, which was so appreciated. The tops of the mantels are so big I was able to load them on my shoulders and bring them inside my house, so unloading wasn’t as bad as I expected! I’ll use the mantels at Bella Rustina next weekend, November 10-12, for my Christmas selfie stations. They will be SO pretty! And they will be for sale if you’re looking for a mantel!
At South Main Creative I found the awesome artwork. I now have my living room artwork complete and added a piece to my crewel collection.
The new Ashley’s Finds website launched yesterday! It’s pretty and more useful. I’m so proud of our estate sale agents for doing such a great job submitting their sales. I’ve got a list of changes that need to be made already, but if you find anything confusing on AshleysFinds.com please let me know! One thing that is different is the estate sales are listed by day instead of by weekend on AshleysFinds.com, so if a sale is 3 days, the sale has a listing for each day on the calendar. The calendar and map is really cool, though! I didn’t do better on the amount of time it took me to put the sale email together this week, but maybe I’ll save time putting together future sale lists.
